3 WeekZ Old.

Friends, family, readership of my blog.....I am sorry for not writing yesterday. I am sorry for not writing this weekend too, but you know I don't write then...I have been busy. I am 3 weekZ old now! I am bigger. I make eye contact with people. I smile more. I turn my head to sounds. I live life to the fullest. I flail my arms at things and hope to hit things but I always miss. I suck my fist and sometimes my fingers on accident. I cry only when there is a reason. Most importantly, I have matured to the point where I can lay with my eyes open and just chill out. I don't need to be held. I don't need to be comforted. I just need to be. And I do be. Wrap your headZ around that last sentence people.

This weekend was fun. I had fun. I HAD fun. I had FUN. Yee! Grandpa Mark came to visit and so did Grandma Black! My cousins Talia and Sophie came over with Aunt Niki too! Sophie and Talia held me. I was scared at first because they are not that much older than me, only 4 or 5 years, but Grandma Black helped them and they did a great job.

I also got to go out in public again! I went to the Eastview Mall for 2 hours and I didn't make a peep the whole time. I just partied in my stroller while the adults walked around and shopped. Dad bought me a sweet hoodie and grandma karen, grandpa mark, and mom bought me some other stuff. It was cool to see all the little kid stores there. I can't wait until I am a little older and I can go shopping there!

Today we went to the park. It was 23 degrees outside but dad insisted it was okay to take me out, so off we went! We brough Nemi and Dosa with us. Boy can they run fast! Those two animals are freaks of nature as far as I am concerned. I like them though. They are good people.

OK, time to run off to watch el presidente Barak Obama. I want to hear what this man has to say about my future.

ThiZ Guy!

WowZers. Who sleeps with their hands in the air or clenched in fists near their head?! THIZ GUY! That's right, I have inherited weird sleeping patterns. In other news, I went to the mall for the first time today. Mom, Dad, Grandma Karen, Grandpa Mark, and I, all went to the mall and got real crazy. Dad exchanged his iPhone for a new one (both 3G) because he said the screen was acting weird and the adults bought some cool stuff for the little man (me!). I acted like I was sleeping the whole time so that they would think I was cute and buy me stuff, but I really had one eye open, making sure they were buying stuff that was cool. If they had bought bad stuff, I would have really freaked out...like, for real.

We had some more visitors yesterday! It was so exciting to meet people now that I can open my eyes and interface with people. Aunt Niki came first! It was so good to see her. We got to catch up and talk about the old days when I was born. She loves holding me and I love being held by her. While she was there, we got some presents from Grandma and Granpa Black's friends the Cominskys! One book in particular, the dogs LOVED! See photo for more...! Aunt Karin, dad's friend from medical school who is going into Urology came to visit next. She held me and talked to me and checked my penis to make sure that I was circumsized properly, she said I was. Thanks Karin! Uncle New Guy (aka Steve) and Aunt Rhi, dad's friends from ultimate frisbee came next. They brought me a sweet blanket that Rhi knit for me, it has a Z in it for Zane!, Then mom and dad's friends Aunt Jen, Aunt Ali, and Uncle Jay came to visit. They bought me some phat (is that word even used anymore?!) clothes and Aunt Jen made me a sweet piece of artwork (see later photo!). It was so nice to meet them because while I was in mom's womb I had such a good time being with them at their suares.

Grandpa Mark came from Connecticut last night. I hadn't seen him in almost 2 weeks. He looked the same as last time I saw him but he told me that I looked older. Is that weird or is there something I am not getting?!

This morning I had great play time with Grandma and Grandpa. Grandma did exercicio (exercise in Spanish!) with me and dad held me and told me about what it was like being an adult. It sound like it is going to be quite fun! I still want to savor my youth though, you know?

In other news, Dad FREAKED OUT last night on Dosa. Grandma, Mom, Dad, Ali, Jen, Jay, Nemi, and I were all partying in the family room. Dad saw Dosa walk out but assumed she was going to lay elsewhere. Boy was he WRONG! Next thing I know Dad is screaming at Dosa and has her pinned to the ground and they are having the Good Ole' All-American Stare Down 2009. After doing some close observation of dad perseverating over it for the next hour or so, I learned that Dosa had actually followed the scent of fresh meat and had gone into the kitchen to eat that meat. She had jumped up, put both paws on the counter, and eated Dad's Filet Mingon that he was going to be having for dinner! Sweet Jesus Dosa, you are one risky dog! I would never do something that crazy because Dad is out of his freaking mind and is a loose canon! Just kidding Dad, you're not that crazy (just kidding about just kidding Dad!). I think I just confused myself! Anyways, Dosa got in trouble and Dad starved to death.

Enjoi the photos people!!

Errbody Put Your ArmZ in the Air!

Hi. This is Zane. I am at the computer now. I am on my mini-size surfboard and I am surfing the World Wide Web. Things are cold in Rochester. I did NOT go for a walk yesterday. They told me that I would freeze to the point of becoming an icicle. I think that is false. Whatever though, it's their decision because I HAVE NO CONTROL! AHHHHH!

I stayed awake a lot yesterday. I did a little cooing and caaahing and definitely a lot of caca-ing. We had good times yesterday doing what 2.5 week old babies do. I looked at things that dangled from the play mat, I looked at a mirror and saw my reflection (is that like seeing my shadow on Groundhog Day?!), I slept and had tummy time on Dad's chest while he slept, and I sat in the Animal Safari bouncer, which was completely inZane. This contracption moved whenever I moved, it had bright blue lights and moving animals and it even vibrated. At one point it started to freak me out and I cried in an effort to turn it off but it just wouldn't stop. I felt crazy. Then dad just started rocking me more. He just doesn't get it sometimes.

Yesterday (and almost every day) mom sang me TONS of songs which she tells me are from camp, and she moves my arms in this weird pattern. She says it's "Songleading" and that I will see what it's all about this summer when we go to Maine. This "Songleading" thing also kind of freaks me out.

Last night Aunt Jennie (from med school) and her mom came over to visit. Jennie really loves me a lot. She, like, REALLY loves me. I think I might try to date her in 20 years, I really think it could work out between us.

I got my first bath with SOAP yesterday.
Spick and Span. That is me. I'm the man.
I got cleaned all over by mom and dad. It was so great that I caca-ed a little while they were cleaning me! That was cool for me but not so cool for the towel. Do towels have feelings? If they do, I bet that towel got it's feelings hurt.

OK, back to the inZane life for me. You should go get inZane too!

This is everyone admiring my good looks.

This is me with my arms up in the Errr! I sleep like this!

This is me trying to tell Jennie that I love her!

This is me and my future wife, Jennie.

What a DifferenZe a Week MakeZ.

I went to the pediatrician again today. Two week visit!! Man, I am growing up fast. 3oz and 2inches in one week....damn, kid. At this rate, I will be 2 feet in no time! I've been keeping it real on the home front. Just doing my thing on the play mat, crying it up when I am hungry, and visiting with my peeps.

It's kind of funny. Everyone (those who already have had boy babies) have told mom and dad to cover my penis when they change me. But, they don't listen. "We know," they always say, or "So and so already told us, we're doing it." They are lying through their teeth. And you know who has to pay the consequences? That's right. Me. In cause you didn't already guess, I peed on myself again. My range is up to about 3-4 feet on a good day. They'll learn eventually. They're just rookies, you have to remember.

We had some more University of Rochester/Camp Fernwood visitors. Rachel and Suzy came last night from Albany and NYC respectively. That's right, I'm two weeks old and I used the word respectively. We had a great time together. They held me and gave me lots of compliments. I felt like $20 (that's a lot of $$ to me!) by the time they left! It was sad to see them leave today but I know our paths will cross again.

In other news, I got to go for another walk today, it was warm out today and sunny, and mom said I need to be outside to get my Vitamin D! Now we are going to go to Buy Buy Baby! It's like Babies R' Us but according to mom and grandma, "the selection is way better and they have the best prices." I'll decide for myself when I get there. Maybe if I act cute, which involves me just existing, Dad will give in and buy me something really sweet, like a new pair of Pumas! Yeah Yeah! Peace out fools!

On Dad's lap, partying my face off!

Being read to by Rachel, E-Rock, and Suzy!

Zaturdays and Zundays are for ReZt.

I don't blog on weekends, so, get over it. Stop your crying and whining because I'm not going to blog, even if you want me to. This weekend was full of fun and games. 10 things which I found the most exciting, in no specific order, were:

1. I got to spend 5 hours alone with grandma while mom and dad ran errands, went out to Valentines day dinner, and went to their friends house for dinner, which I wasn't allowed to go to because my immune system is a piece of crap.

2. Mom and dad ate Thai food for dinner last night! You know what that means? Mom's milk had essence of peanut chicken with tofu and fresh veggie spring rolls! Yum yum in my tum and out my bum.

3. E-Rock and Rea, two of mom and dad's friends from camp, came to visit on Saturday! They were nice. We reminisced about when I was in the womb at camp last summer. It was so awesome to talk about the good 'ole days. E-Rock gave mom a piece of her jewelry that she makes, also available at www.erockdesigns.com!

4. Uncle Evan and Aunt Shauna came to visit today Shauna lives in Buffalo and Evan lives in Washington D.C.! I'd really like to visit those places one day. Dad said Evan and Shauna would be awesome but, I didn't know that they would be THAT awesome. They were really good at holding me. Like, whoa.

5. Dad almost exploded out of excitement because Syracuse beat Georgetown in overtime on Saturday. It's about time. Maybe I will consider wearing my Syracuse onesie now.

6. I had tons of tummy time. When mom and dad leave me alone, I roll over on my stomach and do neck raises and then turn over to my back just before they get back, so they are always so impressed with my neck strength. Just kidding. I don't really turn over yet, but, I want to! I do have great neck strength though! Go me!

7. I open my eyes a lot. I like to see things. Sometimes mom and dad put their faces to close to mine. It is annoying. Step off. I can see like 2 feet from my face now!

8. Mom and dad read lots of books to me. So does grandma Karen. Dad (when he is awake) is the best at reading because he does different voices. I think I am going to have him give grandma and mom a tutorial or acting lesson.

9. Mom and dad gave me a Valentines day card. I almost cried when I opened it but I realized that if I did, mom and dad would really freak out.

10. I realized that I like moving. Whether it is mom and dad dancing with me, sitting in one of those battery powered moving papasan chairs, or going for a walk in the stroller, I like to get my mooooove on. I like it when I'm awake and even when I fall asleep. I wonder what that could mean for my future?!

OK, time to go party my face off by having some good old rest and relaxation in my pack and play. Woop woop!

ViZitorZ and Play Time!

Both a lot and not a lot has happened since yesterday. Notably, I got some serious tummy and back time on my playmat, I have started to use some size 1 diapers as opposed to the size N diapers that I had been using, and I went for a walk outside!

Nemi and Dosa are trouble. They go outside and get all muddy and make the house dirty. I, on the other hand, only make my diaper muddy, so I am much less trouble! Go me! They are cool though, except Dosa gets hair all over my playmat and my room.

Dad has been keeping busy with his ultimate frisbee and soccer games and each time he goes out, he tells mom "when you can be active, I'll watch Zane so you can go to African dance!" I think that makes him feel better about leaving me home. Mom doesn't mind though, and she always responds with "just go, I know you'll watch him when I want to do stuff. I love you!" They are so cute with eachother that it makes me sick! Jeesh!

Today two camp friends of mom and dad's came over. Their names were Steph and Mitch. I guess they will be Aunt Steph and Uncle Mitch? We had fun together and went for a walk outside. My face felt really cold in the stroller but the rest of my body was really warm. It was a strange sensation. I don't know if I like it yet or not! Nemi and Dosa came for the walk with us. They were happy to be out of the house. I wore a bunting that grandma Karen made me. It was warm, but, the word "bunting" seems funny to me.

In other news, I got my social security card today! It was the first piece of mail addressed directly to me! That is neat.

In other-other news, I latched on to dad's arm today because I was hungry. I gave him a hickey! Hahaha.

Extra Zleep and PhotoZ

I decided to give mom and dad some extra sleep last night so I didn’t wake them up by crying even though I couldn’t sleep. They owe me one. Yesterday we had a fun day! The cleaning people came with all of these machines and liquids and cleaned the house. Now it is clean as can be, until the dogs muddy it, that is. Mom and dad did a time switch today. Dad left for a few hours to go do some school work and mom left with grandma to go do grocery shopping. It was fun to have some alone time with each of them. They are each so much fun in their own ways. Mom likes to sing me camp songs and bounce me around and dad likes to mumble nonsense to me and take silly photos with me. I love them so much; I wish I could tell them. I think they know though.

Dad was doing this weird thing to the windows of the house yesterday. He was putting plastic wrap on the windows and shooting hot air from a hair dryer at it to make it air tight. Mom and him were talking about how it helps insulate the house/windows or something. Hey guys, isn’t winter almost over? Doh! You should have done that months ago!

Dad gave me tummy time yesterday. I decided not to go to the bathroom on him this time.

Mom and dad gave me a bath. I cried during the whole thing but I actually liked how the warm water felt on me. I just wanted them to freak out.

Dosa and me played on the floor of my room today. She licked my bum and my hands a lot. She is so soft. I am so lucky to have two sisters who like to lick me so much.

Dad made me watch a Syracuse basketball game again last night. They really stink. Like bad. Is this what being a Syracuse fan is like? I don’t think I like it. Dad, sell my Syracuse newborn clothes!

Ok, time to go have some tummy time. Yayyyy Tummy Time!!!

BaZketball Shoe and First Peditric ViZit!

Today was a laid back day. During the morning, I slept and spent time with Aunt Debbie (mom's friend from growing up). I got to have tummy time on the play mat, and back time too! It was so exciting to see the colorful things dangling over my head. While they were fun to look at, they would have been more fun to play with. But, since I cannot coordinate my arm movements, I had to settle for the occasional moving toy when I accidentally smacked it with my hand. Right now, back time is more fun because it's easier for me too look around and see the things around me. Tummy time is good for strengthening my neck muscles but it is kind of boring since I end up staring in one direction the whole time.

The rabbi came over this morning too. He wanted to make sure that he properly sculpted my penis yesterday. After a good looking, he decided that he had, and went on his way. He offered many mazels to mom and dad and told me that I would grow up to be an awesome Jew!

This afternoon I went to the pediatrician. She told me that she was glad that I had gained weight and was back at my birthweight. I don't know if her or mom and dad knew, but I was never dieting in the first place! So, I don't know why I lost any weight! And I was never trying to gain weight either! I've just been feasting on moms milk! Nobody seemed to care about my opinion during the visit. They just acted like I wasn't there and talked about me. They don't get it. I hear what they say, I just can't speak. I'm like a mime baby. You know? You know......

I slept all afternoon. Driving to the pediatrician and doing a few errands really tired me out. Tonight dad left me home with mom and grandma so he could go to some work at the library and go to his intramural basketball game, which he lost, as always. Both his team and the Syracuse team really need to step it up and get better. I slept the whole time he was gone, but, when he got home, he insisted that he take a photo of me next to his basketball shoe. At first I wasn't going to let him, then I realized that it was another baby mime situation and that although I could cry, he would probably just take the photo while I cried. So, I played it cool and let him take the photo.

Right now I am listening to Bob Marley Lullabyes. They are Bob Marley songs but played on a zylephone with no lyrics. I prefer the real thing, but this is good for when I am going to bed. Good night everyone! One Love.

CicumciZion Day!

OK. Today was absurd. I mean, seriously people. All morning everyone was running around the house trying to get things ready for this bris milah thing that was happening. My foreskin was being cut off and they are acting like they are getting ready for a party. Well, as it turns out, they were getting ready for a party. A PARTY! They decided to have a party for the cutting of my foreskin. C'mon people. Does anyone else think that is a little messed up? This whole religion thing is starting to freak me out. I mean, I love my mom and dad and my grandparents and aunts and uncles and friends and stuff, but a party? When I get old enough to do something about this, you people are in for it.....if I can remember, that is.

I met many new people today. People started arriving at about 11:30am for a 12-noon "tip-off." They kept coming and coming until there were about 30 people there. There were grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, medical school friends of dads, camp friends and college friends of mom and dad, frisbee friends of dad, and even two GREAT GRANDPARENTS! That was exciting! I hope I get to be great and grand like them one day! Even though they were there for a party I didn't support, it was good to meet all of them.

So at this bris thing, what happened was that first Great Grandpa Harold (mom's grandpa) brought me in, handed me to Grandpa Gerry (dad's dad) who handed me to Grandpa Mark (mom's dad) who then sat in the "Chair of Elijah." Some prayers were said in a laguage I did not understand (Martian? Jupitian? Spanish? Hebrew?! Who knows?!) and then I was passed to uncle Josh (mom's brother). He restrained my legs and my arms and held me down on a pillow. Then I was given what appeared to be gauze soaked in Manischevitz. Man, that was good stuff. After sucking on that for a few seconds I felt really funny. Everything around me looked so funny and I began to slur my noises together. Then this bearded fellow wearing a white cape came at me with a bunch of metal pieces and the next thing I knew, I was crying, mom was crying, some random people I didn't know were crying, and dad was holding me up over his head and smiling.

Next everyone ate what dad called "Jewish Food." This consisted of egg salad, tuna salad, cold cuts, chopped liver, potato chips, pickles, and some salads. Most people then had a few glasses of wine and at one point, a whole group of people took a "celebratory shot" of Johnny Walker Black. Rumor has it that Uncle Justin didn't finish his shot and then people yelled at him. I cannot confirm or deny this as I was being loved and kissed and touched in the other room.

Basically, Good Times were had by all, including myself after I learned that dad had gone through the same thing. Thanks for coming everyone! I love you all and can't wait to see you again!

PS- See the photo below where I got really good facetime with Nemi the dog!!
